History of Graphic Design in South Louisiana site launch

hgdsl_logo

We are super psyched to announce the launch of lousianadesignhistory.com . You may have read a little bit already about the AIGA New Orleans special project titled History of Graphic Design in South Louisiana, but let us tell you a little about what the future of this project and it’s website holds. “Future of history?” you ask… well, lets consider our day to day lives as designers from this point on to be history in the making. Currently the website will be used to house information about the upcoming film by the same name as well as some other interesting historical finds that we have preserved in digital format (for instance the 1961 ADDA New Orleans Presentation). The future of the site will be open to you our fellow designers to post your own history, correct ours where you see fit and become your own digital archivist. The plans have already been set for a Louisiana design history Wiki and discussion board as well as a digital visual archive curated by AIGA New Orleans special projects coordinator Nancy Sharon Collins. The current site in all it’s static-infancy-launch state has already gotten alot of visitors and is generating excitement among the young and old alike. We hope you enjoy it and keep up with it’s progress. Contact us if you want to get involved in helping develop the site or have a huge collection of old louisiana design materials that need digitized.
