AIGA New Orleans Wants You!

Okay…look up above this post…see that graphic there? The one from Tom Varisco’s new book Signs of New Orleans? Wish your work could sit in that space? Well now’s your chance!

AIGA New Orleans is seeking creative contributors to help us fill out our website with some home grown beauty. The idea is to have 12-15 images rotating randomly while users navigate around the site.

Here’s the deal. We will be accepting submissions for this space until May 31, 2009. At that point, the AIGA New Orleans board will assemble all the submissions and vote on the best 12-15 images. Those who are selected will be notified, and we’ll get a little more information from you so we can properly attribute the work.

The specifications are as follows:
- 1 Graphic Header Banner sized 880px X 100px
- Image must be saved in JPG, GIF, or PNG format
- Please include your name, email address, and best contact number with your submission
- All submissions should be emailed to by midnight of May 31, 2009.
- Submissions may NOT be self-promotional in nature (meaning you may not include your name, web address, email, phone number, in your design – we’ll handle the attribution of the work later)
- Submissions with obvious and polarizing political and/or social messages will NOT be accepted
- You can enter as many times as you like!

Submissions will be accepted for members of AIGA New Orleans only. So if you’re not a member yet, or if you’ve been on the fence about joining, now would be an awesome time to head over to the membership section of the site to see what other great benefits are available to our members.

We know that the larger economic picture has put the breaks on a lot of people’s decisions to make financial commitments that might otherwise be considered a luxury. Membership in AIGA should be viewed as an investment in yourself, in your career and in your community. We offer great networking opportunities, educational seminars and workshops, and an opportunity to get out into the creative community and have fun while make a real difference!

Wes, what a great way to keep AIGA NOLA’s site fresh.

One questions is there a specific theme like New Orleans? Or can we do anything? Maybe if we could come up with a few themes it would help members get their creative juices flowing?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks, Maria

My thinking on this is that it’s open. It’s more of a showcase of individual talent. Rather than being theme driven, I’d hope folks would just go wild within the confines of that small space.
